Anne Hathaway is set to play a lesbian aunt in award winning show Glee, after inventing the role herself. Speaking to People magazine at the Golden Globe Awards last night, creator Ryan Murphy said: “We just finalized a deal with Anne tonight to come onto the show,
“She’s already created [her role],” Murphy said. “She wants to play the lesbian aunt of Chris Colfer. Because everyone needs a lesbian aunt.”
Hathaway first expressed her desire to appear on Glee in November on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Show.
She told Fallon: “In my head, I’ve written a part for myself on Glee and I know what song I’d sing,
“I would wanna play Kurt’s long-lost aunt, his mother’s sister who is also gay, who comes back to help him deal with his sexuality, and I would sing, ‘You Are Not Alone’ from Stephen Sondheim’s epic show ‘Into the Woods.’ ”
Hathaway’s Glee episode will begin filming in about 6 weeks.
